Coordination
(or My Love Letter to Pilates)
Coordination allows you to move different parts of your body at the same time.
To move them smoothly, efficiently and with control.
It’s something we all require in our daily lives.
We eat, walk, drive, stand up and sit down.
We’re capable of moving without thinking about it.
We’re capable of learning new ways to move.
And relearning how we used to move.
Pilates builds your ability to do this.
Joseph designed his Method with improved coordination of the entire body in mind.
As well as of the body with the mind.
“Contrology is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.
Through Contrology you first purposefully acquire complete control of your own body ….. and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and coordination associated with all your subconscious activities”
Pilates challenges both your body and your brain!
Asking and teaching you to focus on each movement.
To perform each movement with thought, with purpose and with control.
Pilates is mindful movement.
As you progress, you’ll learn to coordinate how, when, where and which
part of your body moves.
And which parts stay stable and still.
You’ll learn to coordinate your movement with your breath
and at the same time, deeply support and stabilise yourself.
The fundamentals of Pilates feed from and into each other.
Bringing your awareness to your alignment;
considering the quality and detail of each movement.
Controlling your body; using your breath.
Concentrate your mind, helping you relax.
Your mobility, flexibility, stamina and strength will improve.
Greater control helps to bring precision to your movement.
Efficient, effective, fluid, flowing movement.
“…. gaining the mastery of your mind
over the complete control of your body”
Pilates – Your brain, body and breath in harmonious flow.
Pilates really is Perfect
